Moxibustion Wellness Guide

Moxibustion is a traditional health-preserving practice that aims to deliver gentle warmth, help relax the body and mind, and create a comfortable body care experience.

Prepare


Prepare the following items.

✓ Moxa Stick

✓ Lighter

✓ Fire Extinguisher or Safety Container

✓ Body Care Towel

✓ Vaseline

How to Use

1. Select the body part or acupoint to be used, such as Guanyuan (CV 4), Zusanli (ST 36) or Sanyinjiao (SP 6). Assume a comfortable sitting or lying position, and expose the area to be treated.
2. Ignite one end of the moxa stick, gently blow out the flame to allow it to burn steadily.
3. Mild moxibustion: Place the moxa stick about 2-3 cm above the skin without touching it. Adjust the position to maintain a comfortable warm sensation and avoid overheating.
4. Circular moxibustion: Move the moxa stick clockwise or counterclockwise in circles over the selected area to cover a region of approximately 3 centimeters.

5. Apply to each area for approximately 10-15 minutes until the skin feels slightly warm and comfortably heated.6. After use, safely extinguish the moxa stick, dispose of the ash, and cover the used area to avoid exposure to cold air.

Preventive Measures

• Avoid moxibustion when you are extremely hungry or overfull. Please empty your bladder before the procedure.
• Keep the environment warm and windless during use. Pay attention to your skin condition and personal comfort to avoid scalding.
• Avoid taking a shower, exposing yourself to cold air or drinking cold water within 30 minutes after use. Please drink warm water instead.

Contraindications

Moxibustion is contraindicated for pregnant women, especially on the waist and abdomen areas. It is also not suitable for patients with high fever, or those with damaged or irritated skin. Use with caution for people suffering from heatstroke, extreme fatigue or intoxication.
